The Art of Remarkable Marketing #1

This book is simply delicious …not only does it capture the essence of Venice, the design is truly remarkable.

We often refer our clients to Seth Godin’s great book – Purple Cow.

Here he argues that being safe is risky. Boring always leads to failure and very good is an everyday occurrence hardly worth mentioning. To be a ‘Purple Cow’ is to be remarkable and the Polpo cook book is just that!

The design consultancy – Praline – reportedly researched old Venetian books and typography before creating a design with a stripped-away spine – using the Venetian typeface – but only type sizes that would have existed in letterpress printing. In Place of the spine, the book binding is revealed giving it fantastic stand-out on shelf.

And the photography (by Jenny Zarins) complements the design perfectly.

David Tanguy the Creative Director from Praline and Polpo’s founder – Russell Norman have created a masterpiece of design and something Design Week has quite rightly acknowledged.
